About the Designer

 Alexandra Ivanoff

Originally trained in classical music, Alexandra Ivanoff has enjoyed a rich career in the field of performing arts, having appeared in John Huston's film "Prizzi's Honor" singing Schubert's "Ave Maria", as well as in NY's Lincoln Center production of "Threepenny Opera", several successful and long-running off-Broadway shows, and she sang with the San Francisco Opera Chorus for five seasons.

"While on stage over the years, I found that my attention would invariably wander to the costumes, especially on the opera stage, where the historical details and the rich fabrics totally captivated me. In the past few years my passion for fabric has reached fever pitch: I woke up one day and realized my house was filled with hundreds of yards of fabric I had collected. I simply had to cross over."

Ms. Ivanoff then studied pattern drafting and textiles at Apparel Arts in San Francisco, fashion design at ESMOD in Paris, and fashion business at FIT in New York.
